Brand Identity. Digital & Print Design.

Ten87 Studios approached me to help with their rebrand. They needed something highly contemporary and engaging that would set them apart as a cutting edge studio complex, helping take their business to the next level.

The visual identity needed to resonate with electronic musicians, their primary customers. It needed enough flex to allow them to follow their brand goals and seamlessly move into the world of events, radio and a record label in the future.

I developed the brand identity around the idea of sound moving through space. The name Ten87 relates to the speed of sound through air. I drew on this as the basis for a series of graphic elements that would work alongside the wordmark.

To give the identity a contemporary and electronic feel I created a modern looking hybrid-font that took 2 existing fonts and adjusted letter forms to create something new and unique. I created awkward new spaces within some of the letters in a nod to the way that corners are rounded off and shapes broken within the studio spaces to disrupt unwanted sound reflections.

Gradients and bold colours form the foundation of the colour palette. Combining these with the graphic elements and bespoke font creates a graphic system that looks completely at home in the world of electronic music and will allow the brand to seamlessly move into the world of events.

Alongside the visual identity I also looked at how to bring the new branding to life across a number of applications; redesigning their website, looking at social advertising, organic brand posts, clothing and a wide range of printed collateral.
